Happy tamil new year and vishu/Baisakhi/Gudi padwa

Each of us  in India celebrate new year in different ways and call in different name.
In marati they call as Gudi  padwa,Punjabis as Baisakhi,keralites as vishu ,Telugu people as ugadi.
We normally celebrate vishu and keep all vegetables,fruits,pulses and display it.We happened to be in kerala for some years and this practice we started to follow.

The most important of vishu is vishukkani.The first thing to see after waking up on this day is to see the rice,fresh lemon,cucumber,mirror,coins,gold which is arranged on the night before vishu.
We read panchankam also on that day.

on this day the food consists of equal proportion of salt,sweet,bitterness,sour,and also prepare vepampoo rasam .
Elders will bless and give vishu amount like coins ,and is believed that the coming year should be prosperous and happy with wealth.
Dishes prepared on that day would be.
1.pachadi
2.Aviyal
3.Mango pachadi
4.Paanagam
5.Buttermilk
6.sundal(prepared with dal)
