Thiruvadhurai Kali and kootu

Thiruvadhurai is one of Hindus main festival and that day kali and kootu is prepared at home.
The preparation is easy and also takes less time.
It has been longtime I dint post the recipe .

Preparation of kali and kootu:
Kali:
This recipe was taught by my mother in law and our family way of doing this.

1.3/4 cup of raw rice
2.1/4 cup of moon dal
3.2-3 cups of jaggery
4.ghee
5.cashews and raisins-to temper
6.Grated coconut.

1.Measure the rice quantity and then in a pan just dry roast it and powder in a mixer ,not like powder form,little coarse.
2.Then dissolve the jaggery in water and then keep in stove and then strain the juice and keep ,so that if there is some sand particles it will be removed.
3.Then in a cooker put the coarse mixture and jaggery water and if needed add little water and pressure cook it.
4.Then in ghee add cashews and raisins and then add to it.
5.Add grated coconut finally.

kootu:

1.Select all country vegetables like brinjal,sweet potato,double beans,carrot,potato,colacasia,yam ,red pumpkin etc.
2.Then add little turmeric and chilli powder and then boil it.
3.To grind add little coriander seeds,red chilli,chana dal,grated coconut and then just fry without oil and then grind it and add the mixture to it.
4.Add salt and add little tamarind water and temper with curry leaves and serve.
